HLTAID015 - Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

HLTAID015 -  This course provides the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation.

  Participants will learn how to utilise specialised first aid equipment; stabilise a casualty where medical aid has been delayed; maintain life in an unconscious casualty with the use of oxygen equipment; and operate a defibrillator unit in order to maintain life in an adult casualty in cardiac arrest.

PUAEME008 - Provide Pain Management

  PUAEME008 focuses on the skills and knowledge necessary to administer restricted analgesics for pain management within a medically supervised first responder organization. This unit specifically applies to personnel from emergency services, volunteer organizations, or entities that offer medically supervised first aid services.


During this course, participants will receive information on the proper use, storage, and documentation of analgesic administration. Additionally, ongoing monitoring of the casualty will be covered. The course topics encompass a revision of provide first aid, storage and documentation practices, pain management, and analgesia techniques.

  • Identify need for analgesia
  • Contraindications and precautions for use of analgesic drugs are identified and use being appropriate for casualty is confirmed
  • Communicate with casualty to provide comfort and instruction in use of analgesic drugs as required
